The body has the ability to convert retinol into other forms that are needed for the various processes performed for good health.

Plant Derived Vitamin A

Vitamin A that is found in colorful fruits and vegetables is called provitamin A carotenoid. This can be converted into retinol in the body.

A substantial amount of vitamin A that is consumed by men and women is in the form of provitamin A carotenoids.

More About Animal Vitamin A

Vitamin A derived from animals is more bioavailable and is utilized much better by the body than plant based vitamin A. The Vitamin A that comes from fruit and vegetables is just not very well absorbed by the human body. This why supplementation of vitamin A is such a good idea, especially if you are a vegetarian!
